Although I do not know a whole lot about changes to the LTD, I'm going to try and put together some of the cosmetic changes by illustrating them... As always information and photos, etc would be GREATLY appreciated!
The LTD in 1983 started with taillights like this.
The LTD in 1985 switched the taillight design to the ones below
